Tomilade’s passion for medicine began at the age of five, when her father—of blessed memory—was diagnosed with kidney failure. What followed was a three-year journey marked by dialysis every other day, frequent hospital visits, and ultimately, a life-changing kidney transplant. Though she was too young at the time to fully grasp the medical complexities, Tomilade made a quiet but resolute promise—to her father and to herself—that one day she would join the ranks of those in white coats, dedicating her life to healing and restoring others. That early promise remains a defining force in her life, accompanied by a deep and enduring commitment to advancing equitable access to high-quality care for underserved communities.
Tomilade went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Public Health, an academic path that further strengthened her dedication to advocacy and community-centered healthcare. At the age of sixteen, she was introduced to ophthalmology while shadowing a local ophthalmologist—an experience that proved both formative and transformative. From that point forward, each opportunity to observe clinical care, particularly cataract surgeries, deepened her intellectual curiosity and sense of purpose. The ability to restore sight—so fundamental to one’s experience of the world—resonated profoundly and became central to her professional calling.
Today, Tomilade is a board-certified ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist. Medicine is not only her profession but her vocation, and ophthalmology represents the convergence of skill, compassion, and purpose in her life. Guided by faith and a profound sense of gratitude, Tomilade considers it a privilege to help patients preserve and regain their vision, empowering them to more fully experience the richness and beauty of life.
